Seven dead in Jos school building collapse



Seven persons have been confirmed dead after a school building collapsed atop Students receiving Sunday Classes in Jos, Plateau Northeast Nigeria.
 The Islamic school by the name Abu Naima Primary and Secondary School in Bukuru was said to have collapsed on Sunday evening at about 6:30pm, with about 30 children below the age of 10 inside.

The Zonal Coordinator, North Central of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mohammed Abdulsalam, confirmed the incident, placing the casualty figure at 7 dead and 5 severely injured.

The injured persons have been rushed to Plateau Specialist Hospital Jos, for medical attention, he said.

Abdusalam added that rescue officials are currently at the scene and are trying their best to rescue and attend to the injured.

He added that the casualty figure may rise as several other people were still buried in the rubble.
