Bomb blast kills seven in Adamawa IDP camp

Seven persons have been confirmed dead with 20 others injured as suspected Boko Harm terrorists detonated a bomb at Maikohi IDP camp In Yola, Adamawa state.



The explosion occurred at about 10:30am on Friday.
The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA via a twitter post confirmed the attack and placed the casualty figure thus: 7 dead, 20 injured including four NEMA officials.
However officials at the hospital housing the injured persons said the death toll has risen to 1o.
Maikohi is the biggest Internally Displaced person’s camp in Nigeria.
According to witnesses, the bomb was planted inside a tent near the major warehouse of the camp where 200 displaced persons who had just arrived from Madagali Local Government of Borno State, had been camped.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the attack via a post on his Facebook page stating the attack was aimed at breaking the spirit of the refugees and also adding that the war against terrorism will be won and the peoples spirit will not be broken.
